Addressing the sedimentation in the lake requires a determination of the historical (approx.150 year) sedimentation trends. The LRA has retained Dr. Lini, UVM geology professor, to conduct this research. In June, 2011 he took sedimentation core samples from Lake Rescue and Round Pond. These cores will be analyzed for their carbon, nitrogen, and a naturally occurring lead radioactive isotope. Other tests will be conducted if necessary.

By these tests Dr. Lini should be able to tell us the sedimentation rates at various points in history and potentially some of the sources. His report is pending. The pictures below are from Dr. Lini’s trip in June, 2011 to gather samples.
